Private AI for Nonprofits and Membership Associations
AI for nonprofits, charities and membership associations that answers member questions, drafts grant and board reports and searches your own records. We build it as private AI on the systems you already run, so donor, member and client data stay under your control.
Built for Nonprofits, Charities and Membership Associations
Our AI for associations work covers member questions, standards, events and renewals. Charity AI projects tend to involve donors, grants, programs and client records. Both run on the CRM, AMS and files you already have.

What AI Does for Nonprofits and Associations
These are the AI tools for nonprofits and associations we build most often. Each one works from your own data, and staff review anything that reaches a member, donor or funder.
AI SMS, Chat and Phone Agent for Member Services
AI text messaging and voice agents answer member questions, route requests and book callbacks in the channels members already use. When a person is needed, the agent hands the conversation to staff with a summary.
AI Knowledge Base for Members and Staff
Members and staff search policies, standards, FAQs and past answers in plain language, with every answer citing its source.
Community Resource Directory Search
The agent finds the right local program or service for a member, keeps listings current from your source data and records each closed loop referral so staff can confirm the member got help.
AI Grant Writing Support
AI for grant writing turns your program data and past applications into draft proposal sections and funder reports. Staff review, edit and sign off every submission.
AI Fundraising and Donor Communications
AI for nonprofit fundraising drafts personalized appeals and thank-you letters from each donor record and gives the development team plain-language segment summaries. Staff approve every message before it goes out.
Nonprofit CRM and Association Management Software Integration
We connect the assistant to the system you already run, such as Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, HubSpot for Nonprofits or your AMS, so it reads and updates records with the access each person already has.
Application, Intake and Form Processing
AI reads applications, intake forms and receipts, posts the data to your systems and sends any exceptions to staff for review.
AI Case Management and Case Notes
The assistant drafts case notes and follow-up tasks from conversations, and caseworkers approve each one before anything is saved to the client file. The models can run self-hosted, so client records stay on your network.
Impact Reports, Newsletters and AI Translation Services
AI turns program data and exports from your impact reporting software into board reports, funder reports and newsletter drafts, with AI Spanish translation of member content for a fluent reviewer to check.
Member Learning, Events and Continuing Education
Connected to your LMS for associations, the assistant recommends courses, answers event questions and sends continuing education reminders from the records your learning platform holds.
AI Policy for Nonprofits, Staff Training and Discounted Plans
We write the rules, run AI training for nonprofits built on your own tasks and roll out Claude for Nonprofits, discounted ChatGPT for nonprofits or Microsoft Copilot plans with admin settings in place.

Working on Something Else? Tell Us About It
The cards above are common starting points for AI for social good work. We build AI for any workflow a nonprofit or association runs.
Requests we hear, in your own words
- “Build our board pack from this quarter’s finance, program and membership reports.”
- “Match volunteers to shifts and send reminders when someone can’t make it.”
- “Summarize the policy and legislative changes that affect our members.”
- “Pull the themes out of our member survey and feedback comments,” which we run as private survey data analysis.
- “Clean up and de-duplicate our records before we move to a new CRM or AMS.”
- Anything else on your list, described however you like.
Keeping Donor, Member and Client Data Private
Nonprofit AI works with giving histories, member files and case notes, so every build sets who sees what, how long data is kept and what gets logged. You also choose where the model runs.
Access, Retention and Audit Logs
Each person sees only the records their role allows. You set how long prompts and drafts are kept, and every answer and action is logged for review.
Self-Hosted AI
Open-weight models run on your own servers or cloud account, so case notes and donor records stay on your network.

Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Microsoft each offer nonprofit pricing that lowers the cost of AI for charities and nonprofits. Each summary comes from the vendor’s own pages, checked November 5, 2026.
| Vendor offer | What nonprofits get | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| Claude for Nonprofits (Anthropic) | Claude Team at $8 per user per month on the nonprofit standard seat, or $3 for nonprofits based in low- and middle-income countries, with Enterprise at nonprofit rates through sales. Includes connectors for Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, Benevity and Candid and the free AI Fluency for Nonprofits course. | Registered 501(c)(3) organizations and their international equivalents, K–12 schools and qualifying healthcare organizations. Government agencies, political campaigns, higher education institutions and healthcare systems are excluded. Team plans verify through Goodstack. |
| OpenAI for Nonprofits (ChatGPT) | ChatGPT Business Standard seats at $8 per user per month billed annually, or $10 billed monthly. Larger nonprofits can get up to 75% off ChatGPT Enterprise through OpenAI’s sales team. Business Premium seats and the API sit outside the discount. | Eligible nonprofits, with eligibility checked by Goodstack on OpenAI’s behalf. Enterprise discounts are arranged with OpenAI’s sales team. |
| Google for Nonprofits (Gemini) | Google Workspace for Nonprofits at no charge, including the Gemini app with enterprise-grade data protections. Paid Business and Enterprise editions come at nonprofit discounts of up to 75% off the standard price. | Registered charitable organizations that meet their country’s requirements, verified by Goodstack. Governmental entities, hospitals, healthcare organizations and schools are excluded, though their charitable or philanthropic arms qualify. |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot (Microsoft) | 15% off Microsoft 365 Copilot for eligible nonprofits, listed at $25.50 per user per month paid yearly, alongside a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan. Copilot Chat comes with an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription at no extra charge. | Nonprofits with recognized charitable status in their country, such as 501(c)(3) status in the US. Professional, commerce and trade associations and nonprofits focused on influencing public policy are excluded. |
Rules differ by tax status, so membership associations in particular should check each vendor’s terms before budgeting around a discount. Whichever plan you qualify for, we set it up with SSO, admin settings and scoped connectors through our Claude Team and Enterprise rollout and ChatGPT Business and Enterprise rollout services.
How a Nonprofit AI Project Runs
Every AI for social impact project we run starts with a discovery call about your members, programs, data and systems. We pick one or two workflows together, such as member questions or funder reports, and agree how success is measured. Then we build on your data with staff review points, launch with a small group, monitor accuracy and usage and extend to the next workflow.
Start with a discovery call →What Shapes the Engagement
Four things set the size of a nonprofit or association AI project, and we work through each one with you before we propose a build.

A General AI Chatbot and an Agent Connected to Your CRM or AMS
Both have a place on a nonprofit team. The difference is what each one can read and do.
| General AI chatbot | Agent connected to your CRM or AMS | |
|---|---|---|
| What it works from | Text and files staff paste or upload | Member, donor and program records it is allowed to read |
| Member questions | Staff copy answers into email or SMS | Answers members by SMS, chat or phone, with handoff to staff |
| Record updates | Staff enter results by hand | Drafts updates and tasks that staff approve before saving |
| Where it runs | The vendor’s cloud, under that plan’s terms | A business plan with admin controls, or models self-hosted on your servers |
| Best for | Drafting, research and one-off questions | Repeat workflows that touch member or donor records |
Frequently Asked Questions
Every build limits access by role, keeps an audit log and holds data only as long as your retention rules allow. For the most sensitive records, such as case notes or giving histories, we run open-weight models on your own servers or cloud account. On Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, we turn on the admin and sign-in controls each vendor's business plan provides.
Yes. We connect AI to the CRM or AMS you already run, through a vendor connector where one exists or through the system's API. HubSpot's own connector for Claude, for example, follows each user's HubSpot permissions. Where we build the connection, you approve which records it can read and which it can update.
They can, if your organization qualifies. The Claude Team nonprofit standard seat is $8 per user per month, and OpenAI lists ChatGPT Business Standard seats at $8 per user per month billed annually, with up to 75% off ChatGPT Enterprise. Google Workspace for Nonprofits includes the Gemini app at no charge, and Microsoft 365 Copilot is 15% off for eligible nonprofits. Microsoft names professional, commerce and trade associations as ineligible, so associations should check each vendor's rules.
Drafts come from your own program data, past applications and donor records, and each figure links back to its source. A staff member reviews, edits and signs off every draft before it goes to a funder or donor. We also track how often reviewers change drafts, which shows where prompts or source data need work.
Yes. Many projects start with a task a team describes in its own words, such as a weekly report, a shared inbox or a records clean-up. On a first call we map the steps, systems and data involved and what staff review, then propose a build. Tell us what you're working on through our Contact Us page.
